Where the sun always shines
When solar panels first came on the market, they were designed to generate electricity by catching the sun's rays during the day, storing any excess in on-site batteries for night-time use. As most people use the bulk of their electricity after dark, and a stand-alone battery is not the most effective of storage devices, this option was far from ideal.
